the dargo story.

Dargo is our 3500 acre grazing property located in the Central Tablelands of NSW, half way between Bathurst and Orange. The area is rich in basalt soils that sustain healthy pastures of phalaris, cocksfoot, rye, clovers and native grasses. The altitude is 960-1000 metres and the district enjoys a healthy rainfall of approximately 850mm per year.

We purchased the original 400 acre property in 2005 and have since amalgamated land from some neighbouring properties to increase the size to 3500 acres. In 2005 we were tree changers, moving from Sydney. When we purchased the property we knew very little about beef breeding, however we were very keen to learn.

During these early years we attended numerous courses on grazing management, pastures, soils, calm stock handling and ecological farming. We observed a great deal and we also talked to numerous people about our journey.

By 2008 we realised that we wanted to do things a bit differently and we decided to focus on producing Wagyu Beef. Since then we have been producing F1 Wagyu (50% Wagyu, 50% Angus) for the export market, with the majority of our meat going to Japan.

We have recently ventured into selling some of our Premium Grassfed Wagyu Beef direct to the public at local Regional Farmers Markets and through some local and Sydney based providors.

WELCOME.

We welcome you to our website and hope to see you at a Regional Farmers Market again soon.
